Hi Guys,

Haven't been on here for a while as the majority of posts seemed to just be spammers.

Has the place picked up at all recently?

Maybe this forum needs better publicity to get people using it for its intended purpose?

I dunno. I love the spam. I now have 3,456 methods for making my womens happy

Yes the spam to person ratio is a little alarming and the real post count has dropped dramatically. I really CMSfs but the lack of activity does make a boy nervous about using it as a platform for business.

:-)

Agreed. I try to stay on top of the spam, but honestly can't visit every day and I'm only an admin as a hobby.

There certainly does seem to be a distinct lack of activity from anyone 'scratch' on this scratch web design forum.

Can't blame them for being hard at work in the credit crunch, but I think a little ray of hope would serve us all well.

/Doug

You need to not allow new members to send PMs for one thing. Make it so they need 15 posts and two weeks. And really the general spam in the forums needs to be cleaned up if you expect people to take you seriously. 99% of the spam can be stopped automatically just by implementing some more/better protection (and reporting) measures, you need to stack several methods. Otherwise, all it would really take is someone to go through and look at each board once a day.

Though really the CMS needs a major update before it will really gain much popularity. The thing with sets, where you can't edit set templates without breaking them. That is a major pain in the neck. All sorts of other things for which there are fixes but they are anything but simple to apply, combined with the multiple versions, raising questions about which version these tricky code editing fixes can or should actually be used on. Not to mention the permissions/ownership issues which combined with all the other quirks leave one feeling like they have a rather fragile system that is difficult to back up or relocate. People who are looking for a simple, flatfile CMS aren't gonna be so keen on the above issues, it doesn't sound like a very simple solution in the end.

The sets functionality really needs to be fixed, improved, and expanded upon. This is one of the nicest features of CMSfS but it could be so much better. multi-tiered sets would be brilliant. And setting up a bunch of pre-made easy to use math functions, and form elements for use in sets would be awesome.

It really wouldn't take all that much to transform this CMS into one of the TOP CMSs around. It has so much potential. Catch-22, you need more people to pitch in in order to cross that next hurdle but more people aren't going to come until you cross that next hurdle.

I completely agree with you. Maybe one day one of the scratch team will come by, read this, and agree too?

I have given up trying to stay on top of deleting spam, instead opting to do a reasonable clean every now and then.

Sadly, until scratch start paying more interest, I'm not sure any of the issues you've raised are going to improve.

Apparently the scratch team gave up. I've been getting spam like crazy lately in the form of pms.
