Hey guys! I'm back... after a long absence and little design work (and a little username change from ScottyPcGuy_03 due to changing my email address and being unable to reset my password ), I'm working on my latest project: revamping a site for a mold-remediation company.

I have a bit of a problem.

What background color should the column on the right be? I've tried many color wheel combos, none are pleasing to my eye (but I'm a tad screen-blind after staring at it for so long! ). In addition, the text inside that column needs something. I'm not sure what, but as-is it just seems hokey.

Feedback, please!

Morning.
hi i am new here.. I am posting this Thread just for getting some public opinion,,,

A current client peddling some art supplies is insisting the website itself should be "avant-garde, a work of art," and is throwing out all usability and design standards (like navigation bars/menus, header/footer, etc) merely because they deal with "art."

I will be the first to admit I have much to learn about design still - so I welcome these kinds of challenges and try to learn from them. I am having discussions with her about keeping her target audience in mind, etc.

Any advice/talking points/links to read from the trenches? I try to stay current on blogs like ALA or Smashing, but would love some real world info.

Please can someone refresh my memory on how/where to store the additional fonts I've downloaded so I can make use of them for flyers. I have had a look at da.font thanks very much there are some great ones here!

curved corners

Hi everyone,
Just need to know how I can make curved corners on a graphic. It already has curved corners but I need to chop off some of the bottom half with the writing, so will need to 're-curve' the bottom corners?? I'm sure it can't be that difficult? I'm using PS7 at the moment. Please help! need to finish this!

Hi, great forum guys.
I'm new to web design and just looking for a few tips.

Is it best to design in photoshop or fireworks?
What is the general rule for the pixel width of a website?
Is there a general rule on size of headings and body copy?
I'm looking for some cool buttons for a site. Is there a resource site for cool buttons or is it best to create your own?
Is arial and helvetica the best fonts to use or is it a good idea to mix it with a serif header and sans serif body copy?

So far I found www.123rf.com most useful for me.
I also like the collection in www.corbis.com. but it is more expensive.
